Suriya’s Retro had an underwhelming start at the box office, attracting only limited sections of the audience. The film’s theatrical performance over the first weekend has been below expectations. Disappointing 1st Weekend Box Office Report In Tamil Nadu, the movie grossed approximately ₹36 crore over four days. Kerala contributed around ₹4 crore, and the Telugu states added ₹5.5 crore. Including Karnataka and the rest of India, the film's total domestic gross stands at around ₹52 crore. Overseas, Retro managed a gross of ₹20 crore, bringing its worldwide total to ₹72 crore. Despite the star power of Suriya, the film’s momentum is slowing down, with poor advance bookings reported. Compounding the issue is strong competition from Tourist Family, a smaller release that is outperforming expectations and eating into Retro’s audience. At this rate, there's a significant chance that Retro may struggle to reach the ₹100 crore mark globally.
