War 2, one of India’s most anticipated films of the year, is generating massive hype thanks to its powerhouse casting of Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan and South Indian icon NTR. This high-voltage collaboration has elevated expectations to new heights, with many predicting it could be the biggest grosser of 2025—and potentially a new entrant into the coveted ₹1000 crore club. Historically, the War franchise and YRF’s spy universe have largely resonated with North Indian audiences, with limited traction in the South. However, the inclusion of NTR has completely changed the equation. The anticipation is especially strong in the Telugu states, where the star enjoys an unparalleled fanbase. Scheduled to release on August 14, War 2 will clash with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, setting the stage for a high-stakes box office showdown. As release nears, distribution negotiations in the Telugu states are in full swing. Early reports suggest that the producers are aiming for around ₹110 crore from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana rights, while distributors are quoting closer to ₹85 crore.
